Two weekend fires are under investigation by the state Fire Marshal's Office as suspicious in nature. Above, a mobile home at 123 Big Bear Lane off of Yokely Road was destroyed early Friday morning, according to Public Information Officer Neal Hebert of the Baldwin Fire Department. The BFD was called out at 5:30 a.m. and had assistance fighting the fire from the Charenton-Chitimacha Fire Department. The mobile home was vacant. Below a house at 11413 La. 182 in Bakertown sustained damage from the blaze reported at 9:18 a.m., Saturday. Franklin firefighters assisted by personnel from Baldwin, Centerville and Chitimacha had the fire under control within 15 minutes, according to Chief Peggy Davis. She said about 55 percent of the house was damaged by fire and the remainder sustained smoke damage. Causes of both fires, not suspected to be related, are undetermined and under investigation. There were no injuries reported.
