Franklin, Berwick and Bayou Vista fire departments participated in live fire training Wednesday night at Ray Rasberry Fire Station on La. 182 in Berwick. During the training session, firefighters experienced a simulated flashover, a drill that is designed to help them in case they experience such a phenomenon at a real firefight. It was the last part of a National Fire Protection Association course taught by Robert Triche of LSU. Eighteen firefighters from the three departments attended 30 hours of classes on their own time to meet regulations.
