A 29-year-old Coushatta man was struck and killed by a vehicle late Thursday on the U.S. 90 frontage road near Arlington Road. Douglas Roberson walked into the path of a Ford Expedition at approximately 11:20 p.m. and died at the scene, according to Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire.
McGuire said Roberson's Ford Taurus had broken down on U.S. 90 westbound and another vehicle on the service road had stopped to render assistance. He was hit by a third vehicle, the Expedition, which was eastbound on the service road.
No charges were filed and alcohol was not a contributing factor, McGuire said. An investigation is being conducted by State Police and the St. Mary Parish Coroner's Office.
