A Nissan truck driven by a New Iberia man took down a utility pole at Willow Street and Chatsworth Road Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m., according to reports from Franklin Police Department. The truck was southbound on Willow when it left the roadway, traveled up the bridge approach embankment, crashed into the pole, skidded across Chatsworth and tumbled down the opposite bridge approach embankment where it came to rest. Reports from first responders at the scene indicated that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to a medical condition. The driver, Alfred Depass, 59, was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Iberia Medical Center for treatment. His condition was unknown this morning.
