Cold weather may be the cause of gas line leaks around the area this week. After a major leak closed off the block around Parkerson and Willow streets last week, another closed the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Robertson Street late Monday morning after a local resident reported a smell of natural gas from a catch basin. Fire Chief Peggy Davis said the gas company did locate a leak, patched it and will return Thursday for a more permanent fix. There was also a small leak in the area of Gum Point Lane and Sterling Road Monday afternoon that was repaired. MLK Boulevard was open within a couple of hours, Davis said.
