A suspected broken natural gas line under Parkerson Street caused evacuation in the immediate area. Several persons including a fire department member reported the smell of gas in the area around 7 a.m. Parkerson Street is a small lane off of Willow between First and Second streets. Residents on the street were evacuated and traffic in the area between Second and Main streets was detoured by police and fire officials. CenterPoint crews were on the site at press time to locate a main shut off valve.
